What psychiatric care is offered at the Sugar Land office?
The office is an outpatient clinic, which means you come in for scheduled visits and go home the same day. Four services are offered here:
- Psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis: a detailed conversation about symptoms, history and goals, with our impressions shared at the end
- Medication management: follow-up visits to check how a medication is working, watch for side effects and adjust when needed
- Brief psychotherapy: short-term, focused talk therapy alongside psychiatric care
- Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, often shortened to MBCT
A note about medication
- Medication decisions are made together with you, after an evaluation.
- Not every medication can be prescribed at every kind of visit, and some may require an in-person visit. We explain what applies to you.
- Please talk with your prescriber before starting, stopping or changing any medication.

Who will I see?
Care at this office is provided by Victor Onodjacha, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. A nurse practitioner in this specialty is an advanced practice registered nurse who evaluates, diagnoses and treats mental health conditions.
This is a small practice led by one provider, so you see the same person at every visit. You do not have to retell your history to someone new each time. His background is on the Victor Onodjacha, MSN, PMHNP-BC page, and the concerns we commonly see are listed under conditions.
Should I come in person or use video?
Either can work, and many people use both. Some prefer to sit in the same room as their provider, especially for a first evaluation or when the subject is hard to talk about. Coming to the office also solves the problem of finding a private place to talk at home.
Video is useful when your schedule is tight or getting to the office is difficult. It is open to anyone we see who is physically in Texas at the time of the visit. In some situations we will recommend an office visit, and we will tell you why.

Who comes to the Sugar Land office?
The office serves people who live or work in Sugar Land and in nearby Fort Bend County communities such as Missouri City, Stafford, Richmond and Rosenberg. You do not have to live in the county to be seen here. Anyone who wants face-to-face care and can get to the office is welcome to ask about an appointment.
People come for many reasons: trouble with focus, worry that will not let up, low mood, mood swings, the effects of trauma, poor sleep, or experiences such as hearing or seeing things that others do not. You do not need to know what to call it before you reach out.
Is the office convenient from Houston, Missouri City, Stafford, Richmond or Katy?
The office is in the First Colony area of Sugar Land, just off the Southwest Freeway (US-59/I-69) near University Blvd, about a mile from First Colony Mall and Hwy 6. These are typical drive times without traffic. Weekday rush hour is slower.

What should I expect at an in-person visit?
- Before you comeAfter you send a request for an appointment or call (346) 855-6216, we check your insurance and explain how to complete your paperwork. Our new patients page lists what to bring, including a photo ID, your insurance card and a list of your medications.
- During the visitYou meet privately with your provider. A first visit covers what you have been experiencing, your medical and mental health history, medications, family history and daily life. Screening questionnaires are used where they help. Follow-up visits focus on how you have been since the last one.
- Before you leaveWe share our impressions, talk through options and agree on next steps with you. Ask anything that is unclear. With your permission, we can coordinate with your therapist or primary care provider.
Does the clinic take my insurance?
The clinic accepts many major insurance plans and offers self-pay for people without coverage or who choose not to use it. We check your coverage before the first visit. The current list of plans and self-pay information is kept on our insurance page so that it stays accurate.

Questions patients ask
Where is the office located?
The office is at 7616 Branford Pl, Suite 220, Sugar Land, TX 77479. Sugar Land is in Fort Bend County, southwest of Houston. If you have questions about finding the office or about what you may need when you arrive, call us at (346) 855-6216 before your visit.
Do you see children and teenagers in Sugar Land?
The clinic sees patients ages 5 to 65. When the patient is a minor, a parent or guardian must be present at appointments. Bringing school reports or earlier evaluations, if you have them, gives the evaluation more to work with.
Is the clinic a hospital or a crisis center?
No. It is an outpatient office for scheduled visits. We do not provide emergency care, walk-in crisis care or overnight stays. If outpatient visits are not enough for what you are facing, we will say so and help you think through a higher level of care.
Can I start in person and continue by video?
Yes. Many people come to the office for a first evaluation and use video for some later visits, or the other way around. You need to be physically in Texas, Idaho, Arizona or Maryland during any video visit. Your provider stays the same in either setting.
What if I live in Fort Bend County but cannot get to the office?
Video visits are available to anyone we see who is physically in Texas, so you can receive care from home. Some situations do call for an in-person visit, and we will let you know if yours is one of them and talk through how to make that workable.
